Global Rare Earths Summit 2022

SUMMARY

City & Financial Global and REIA are proud to co-present the Global Rare Earths Summit 2022 on Thursday, 31st March. This leading virtual summit will provide a forum where senior policy members, mining, financial and supply chain executives can discuss how to manage the supply/demand squeeze for rare earths and meet the global need for a swift and responsible transition to green energy.

Rare earth elements have grown in popularity over the past 20 years due to the explosion in demand for technologies that require them. As energy transitions gather pace, clean energy technologies, which rare earth elements are essential for, are becoming the fastest-growing segment of demand. Crucial to battery performance, longevity, energy density and magnetics, these elements are essential for electric vehicles and wind turbines, to name but a few.

The opportunities that rare earths present are immense, especially with new frontiers being pushed in the mining and refining, but the challenges posed by their use are vital to address and prepare for. Scarcity and geopolitical uncertainty make sourcing and utilising rare earth elements an ever-increasing challenge, especially in the face of skyrocketing demand. The environmental and social impacts of mining are also under scrutiny from investors and other stakeholders, especially as new mines open and existing mines push their production levels to their limits.

City & Financial Global and REIA’s first Rare Earths Summit 2022 will bring together senior policy figures and company executives to discuss how to manage the supply/demand squeeze for rare earths and meet energy transitions swiftly and responsibly.
