As we observed global recycling day on 18 March, this week the newsletter covers the issues related to REE recycling. SUSMAGPRO as project constituted by several REIA members is introduced. In the lead article of the week, Antoine Beylot and co-authors introduce an innovative process developed as part of the project EXTRADE (website in French) for recycling rare earths (RE) from permanent magnets used in small applications. In order to assess the potential of further research from lab scale toward industrialization, this study performs economic and environmental evaluations.Other news includes project updates from REIA members, Japanese strategy on REE stockpiling, US government initiative on sustainable mining and news on e-mobility.

The Rare Earth Industry Association (REIA) is an international non-profit organisation representing the global Rare Earth Elements industry, founded in June 2019 under the auspices of the EIT RawMaterials Internationalisation project GloREIA. Several SUSMAGPRO partners are members and support the development of the association.
